We’re Grateful for Your Support

Dear Friends of the NicaClinic,

This Thanksgiving season, we pause to remember how fortunate we are and to lend a helping hand to those in distress.

The communities around the Clinic are facing unprecedented flooding, as you can see in this recent video from our team.

My heart aches to see this devastation. Families are unable to access schools, healthcare, or even clean water for days and weeks at a time. Even more concerning, the makeshift houses in some of the more rural areas are at risk of being swept away, putting lives in danger.

Many of us in the United States have also faced significant hardships from extreme weather in 2024 with hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding. As we hope for continued recovery and support for affected U.S. communities, imagine how much more challenging these circumstances are for those living in poverty in Central America.

There is no FEMA in Nicaragua. Devastated remote families don’t have insurance.  Little access to a medical center, or supplies, or transportation.  Or food. Or clean water.  We will help them rebuild, but with scarce resources it can take much more time than it does in the US.

Despite these conditions, our Clinic staff perseveres driving through flooded roads to reach distressed families. We maintain round-the-clock staffing whenever possible to serve anyone in need.

These recent floods have created new challenges: vehicles need repair or replacement, and we’re seeing increases in both flu and dengue fever cases.

Our Clinic tirelessly provides clean water and nutritional supplies to some of the Western Hemisphere’s poorest families. Your support is crucial and goes directly to this community, which depends on us for urgent and preventative care.

We have 26 professionalsdoctors, nurses, program directors, pharmacists, ambulance drivers, and volunteersstanding by ready to help. We are immensely grateful for all their dedication and all your support.

Every little bit helps.

Please consider supporting our NicaClinic to help this community during these floods.

As we hope for the waters to recede soon, we wish you a peaceful Thanksgiving season.

Warm regards,

Julia
