Promoting the Talent Motivates Our Team in Nicaragua

Our growing clinic boasts great leadership

We are pleased to recognize one of these leaders by promoting Mr. Gustavo Ibarra to Operational Manager in January 2014. Mr. Ibarra now supervises the entire operation including the legal and administrative affairs. He continues to demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to the interests of the Clinic in his new position. One of his goals is to improve the quality of our facilities and expand the services that the Clinic provides. Driven, empathetic and thorough, Mr. Ibarra’s leadership is guiding our team in a positive direction.

gustavoibarraMr. Ibarra has always held potential. He has worked with the Clinic as the head of our pharmacy since 2008. He monitored inventory and medication consumption, oversaw two assistants, and helped in daily operational tasks. He now brings his attention to detail and team-oriented work into his new leadership position, co-directing with Dr. Francis Guevara.

Growing up in a family of medical professionals, Mr. Ibarra took a quick interest in the pharmacy. He enrolled in the University Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 2003 where he studied for four years and graduated with a degree in Pharmaceuticals and Faculty of Medical Sciences.

While attending university, he worked at the pharmacy in the San Martin Clinic in Rivas. After graduating, he worked for almost two years at the Pharmacy Meridional. In 2008, he joined the team at the Roberto Clemente Health Clinic. He hails from and currently resides in Rivas with his two-year-old daughter. Aside from working at the Clinic, he owns a gym where he enjoys exercising and educating others on the importance of daily physical activity. In the future, he hopes to continue studying and one day receive a master’s degree in Pharmaceuticals.

As Operations Manager, Mr. Ibarra has already helped focus daily Clinic life on cleanliness, maintenance and efficient operation. His expert management of finances and his ability to find the best prices and quality keeps the Clinic running efficiently. He has led projects on kitchen, ambulance and van care and keeps everyone informed and up-to-date on Clinic business, both in Nicaragua and in the U.S. We are glad to have him as a leader on our team!

The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic provides health care to over 12,000 underprivileged Nicaraguans per year.  The clinic provides general and emergency medical care, dental care, ambulatory surgery, lab work, and preventative health education.  The clinic also provides volunteer opportunities for health professionals and students of all levels. Volunteering at The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic is the perfect way to combine benevolence with medical education.
