Our Clinic Engineer’s Urgent Message

Dear NicaClinic Supporter,

Time is running short for our 2025 Father’s Day campaign, but the stories keep inspiring us…

Meet Alan Vilchez:
Alan Vilchez brings a unique perspective to our Father’s Day campaign. He’s both a dedicated Board member and the Chief Engineer for the award-winning Rancho Santana resort development.

As a father of three boys (mostly grown), Alan understands what it takes to build something that lasts, and he’s committed his engineering expertise to ensuring our clinic can serve every family in the region.

“Living nearby at Rancho Santana, I see firsthand how critical this Clinic is for our entire community,” Alan explains. “We get emergencies of every kind – work accidents, road incidents, water-related injuries, serious insect bites, sudden illnesses. When someone needs urgent medical care, they need it now, and they need the right equipment to diagnose and treat the problem immediately.”

Alan’s technical expertise has been invaluable. He’s helped us solve engineering challenges, security issues, vehicle problems, and IT complications over the years. Most importantly, he used his professional network in Nicaragua to price out exactly what equipment we need and what it will realistically cost to acquire and install.

As an engineer and father, Alan knows that proper planning and the right tools are essential for any successful operation – especially one that saves lives.

“As an engineer, I know that having the right equipment isn’t optional – it’s essential. When a family rushes to our Clinic with an emergency, we need to be ready with professional-grade diagnostic tools. That’s not just good healthcare, it’s good engineering.”

Alan’s story reminds us why we need this equipment now. When a father’s child needs an emergency X-ray at midnight, or when cardiac arrest strikes during a family gathering, having professional diagnostic equipment can mean the difference between life and death.

Alan worked with our Medical Team and our U.S. CEO, Dr. Shawn Borich, to determine the exact equipment needed and realistic costs for acquiring it in Nicaragua. His story reminds us that this isn’t just about medical care – it’s about building infrastructure that can reliably serve our community for decades to come.

Equipment and Labor Costs:

  • Digital X-Ray Machine: $45,000
  • Sonoscape Ultrasound Machine: $18,500
  • Automated External Defibrillator: $3,000
  • Patient Monitor: $1,200
  • Part-time Lab Technician (training & salary): $4,000

We’re in the final push:

Father’s Day Fundraising Goal total: $50,000

The digital X-ray machine alone ($45,000) will handle everything from broken bones in work accidents to pneumonia diagnosis. Every piece of equipment addresses real emergencies Alan has witnessed in our community.
