An Uplifting Report From Our Padrino Program Director

Dear Friend of Our NicaClinic,

On August 29, we carried out a series of activities geared to the well-being and development of children in our Padrino Program. These initiatives aimed to support not only the physical health of the children but also their educational and emotional needs.

As part of our health initiative, deworming doses were administered to children. This preventive measure is essential to ensure their continued growth, health, and ability to perform well in school. We also performed educational talks about the importance of these deworming campaigns.

In addition to health support, motivational talks were delivered to both children and their parents. These sessions were designed to encourage self-confidence, resilience, and the importance of education – while also strengthening the relationship between students and their caregivers.

We also distributed school supplies and school uniforms, ensuring that every child has the tools (books, pens, pencils, erasers, note pads, etc.) and proper attire (shirts, t-shirts, pants, athletic pants, and shoes) needed to participate fully and proudly in school activities.

September brings with it a state holiday. Some girls will be wearing Nicaraguan traditional dance costumes for planned school celebrations this month.

Beyond the scope of medical attention, we emphasize the importance of mental health, recognizing its vital role in a child’s academic and personal development. For this reason, we actively promote mental wellness. And in cases where psychological evaluation or assistance is needed, we coordinate and provide access to appropriate mental health services to address these needs in a timely and respectful manner.

As of now, our Padrino Program supports a total of 83 children, with 71 actively enrolled in schools. We remain dedicated to creating a holistic environment where each child can thrive both physically and emotionally.

Thank you sincerely,

Enmanuel Jarquin

P.S. There are still five children pending to come to get their school supplies and deworming pills. Some of these kids live so far away that it’s complicated to get transportation. To support this Padrino program, please click here.
