Dear friend of the Clinic,
In early June, our new CEO Dr. Shawn Borich traveled to the Clinic with former CEO and Board member Dr. Jose Mosquera.
This impressive duo set out to assess our current operations and create a renewed vision for the next three years.
The doctors spent time interviewing our Clinic staff, meeting with leaders of the nearby Rancho Santana resort and our Nicaragua board members, participating in our Clinic‘s outreach program, and assessing our aging building facility and equipment.

As a result, we have a renewed Critical Mission for our Clinic…
Dr. Shawn’s top two goals include:
1) Initiating more emergency training of the Nicaraguan staff, particularly Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Working with our Medical Director Dr. Hazel Ruiz, along with a state-side Emergency Medicine program, Dr. Shawn will identify and obtain the proper supplies, equipment, and educational resources to ensure our Clinic team is ready for any emergency that may arise.

2) Urgently updating our aging facility and equipment, including a new EKG and x-ray machines. In addition, we have to repair the roof (work already underway) and our electric system. We also need to design a more modern urgent-care facility. Dr. Shawn was an executive physician leader for over 23 years, so he has extensive experience establishing urgent care facilities in the U.S.
Given his extensive background in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Hospitalist Medicine, Occupational Health, Medical Spas, and the management and staffing of a diverse portfolio of healthcare companies, he’s uniquely qualified to spearhead the Clinic‘s future vision.

With recent storms and years of wear and tear, renovating and updating the building is a top priority for all stakeholders at the Clinic.
