We started off 2018 by celebrating at our Annual Health Fair on January 13! The substantial number of people who attend our Health Fairs – higher every year – continues to surprise us.
We are happy to see this event become a yearly tradition at the Roberto Clemente Health Clinic, and we are joyful to learn what it means to the people of the surrounding communities.
This year, we had a big party. Children and adults enjoyed piñatas, a clown and raffles with great prizes. Each year, we offer free consultations and medicine.
We even had a special recognition ceremony and gave prizes to the Clinic’s firstborn and lastborn children. Juliana, the first child ever born at the Clinic, is now 14 years ago! Julia C. Guth, chair of the board, and Juliana got a chance to spend some time together during the fair. Julia is now sponsoring Juliana and is her “madrina.” They are both super excited about getting to know each other more.
In addition, this year we were able to expand the fair onto our new land that was acquired in 2017 from a generous donor.
Of course, our board members joined the celebration too. They hosted a stand with Roberto Clemente coloring pages, crayons and markers as an activity for all the children who attended the fair. Once the kids finished coloring, they received hygiene kits that Clean the World donated to the Clinic. It was amazing to see the children’s faces light up as they were handed these hygiene kits as prizes. They were beyond excited!
