Dear Friends of the Clinic,
Last weekend our team in Nicaragua, along with Advisory Council member Jack Weston, met with the families involved in our Community Garden Program.
You see, while many Nicaraguans have access to land, they do not possess the tools or knowledge necessary to yield crops for their families. So land is often left unused and undeveloped. But through our Community Garden Program, we provide education in basic gardening, soil enhancement, nutrition and natural pest control.
During our check-in with these families last weekend, we provided updates on new protocols and discussed difficulties each plot owner might be facing. Gardening in Nicaragua, especially during the dry season, is never easy. And this meeting was heavily focused on finding a solution to watering a variety of crops that may not require the same amount of hydration to thrive. Spending time with our local community always leaves our team with a full heart and a drive to continue making a difference. To date, all 50 of our plots are full and tended by locals, which we would like to call a success!
