Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Grant Writer will
research and identify potential foundation and corporate funders
supporting international healthcare programs for underserved
communities, specifically supporting emergency and preventive
healthcare in Nicaragua. The Grant Writer will prepare proposals;
draft/or complete correspondence, letters of intent, track the
proposal, and other related materials; and maintain funder files,
database, and spreadsheets.
Position Description MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responsible for all foundation, corporate and public grant proposals
and reports, as well as cover letters, application forms, and grants
acknowledgements.
•Researches grant prospects regularly via varied tools such as online
databases, 990 forms and funder websites.
•Maintains detailed foundation and public funder prospect spreadsheet,
including proposal and report deadlines.
•Creates and packages all proposal and report materials, including the
necessary attachments.
•Maintains all grant-related electronic and hard copy files.
•Ensures appropriate, updated budgets and other financial statements
are included with proposals and reports in conjunction with Business
Manager.
•Tracks all foundation, corporations and governmental institution who
support international healthcare or can contribute to the wellbeing of
a poor community in Nicaragua.
•Supports Board members, Executive Director in all fundraising efforts,
including events, annual appeal, individual solicitations, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BUT NOT ALL NECESARY:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Administration,
Healthcare Field or equivalent.
• Ten years in grant writing, or related experience with the
possibility to show total amount raised vs. total amount applied.
• Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
Skype and other remote communications are a must.
• Excellent analytical skills, as well as written and verbal
communication skills.
• Strong research skills.
• Ability to work well with others as well as be independently
motivated.
Who we are: The mission of the Roberto Clemente Health Clinic
(http://www.nicaclinic.org
) is to provide services in general healthcare and emergency and
preventive medicine to the rural population in the region where it is
located… as well as to those visitors coming to the area. The clinic
provides low-income children and elderly patients with subsidized care
when necessary. In general, the Clinic will coordinate with
governmental institutions in conducting local public health campaigns
for vaccination for disease prevention and epidemic controls that are
necessary to maintain a good standard of health care in the region,
with a particular focus on communities with less access to healthcare
in Nicaragua. The Clinic is under a non-profit company based in
Baltimore, Maryland.
Compensation: A very small consulting fee plus a big

The ideal candidate is a student or recent graduate seeking to gain

Ability to take initiative and work independently and virtually on
multiple projects.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Interest in International Affairs, International Development, Latin
America or youth education. Spanish language is a plus but not
necessary.
